Public Utilities has identified five (5) stages of water shortage and associated triggers for the declaration of a water shortage stage: Stage 1: Watch. Take action to reduce the likelihood of a shortage.Stage 2: Mild. Take actions to reduce water use from between 10 and 24 million gallons of water per day.Stage 3: Moderate. Take action to reduce water use from between 25 to 39 million gallons of water per day.Stage 4: Severe. Take action to reduce water use from 40 to 64 million gallons of water per day.Stage 5: Critical. Take action to reduce water use by 65 million gallons or more per day.
