Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities is upgrading approximately 5,500 residential water meters across the city with new advanced metering technology. The new meters provide real-time water insights, help detect leaks faster, and allow customers to better monitor their water use. Work is performed by Huskies Leak Detection, an authorized contractor working on the City’s behalf. If your home is scheduled for a replacement, you will receive a letter in the mail about two weeks before work begins, and most replacements take less than an hour with only a brief interruption to your water service. Crews will leave a door hanger confirming the work is complete, and there is no cost to you for this upgrade.
