2025 Candidate Filing Period
Salt Lake City Council has chosen to opt into the Alternate Voting Methods Pilot Project, more commonly referred to as Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), for the 2025 Municipal Election Year. Candidates for the 2025 election may declare their candidacy from June 2 to June 9, 2025 during regular business hours, if the City Council opts for a Ranked Choice Voting Primary. The primary election is scheduled for August 12, 2025 if this method is chosen.
If City Council selects to forego the Primary Election, the declaration of candidacy period will occur from August 12 to August 19, 2025 during regular business hours. Regardless of the chosen voting method for Ranked Choice Voting, the General Election will take place on November 4, 2025.
