Welcome to Salt Lake City Building Permits Office! Our office has staff available to help you through our permitting process via phone (801-535-7968), email (slcpermits@slc.gov), as well as in-office Monday – Friday 8am-5pm. Please reach out to us with any questions you may have. We’re happy to help get you through the permitting process and on your way to construction. Salt Lake City offers electronic plan review in an effort to keep permitting accessible and equitable.

Salt Lake City is in the process of updating its ordinances related to administering building codes including new construction permitting, verifying housing standards, and boarded building enforcement.

All permit applications must be submitted electronically through the Citizen Access Portal.

Plan Review Pre-Screening Checklists are available online and are required with a Plan Review Submission:
After permit issuance, inspections can be scheduled through the Citizen Access Portal
Payments
Credit Card and E-Check payments are accepted made through the Citizen Access Portal.
Paper check payments are accepted by mailing the check with the appropriate invoice to the Salt Lake City Treasury.
Checks received without an invoice cannot be processed.

Short-term parking can be found on the east side of the City & County Building.
