Mayor Biskupski responds to President Trump’s notice to UN to withdraw from Paris Agreement

Today, the Trump Administration made formal its intention to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Paris Agreement on climate change. Mayor Jackie Biskupski who serves as the Chair of the US Conference of Mayors Alliance for a Sustainable Future and co-chair of Sierra Club’s Mayors for 100% Clean Energy released the following statement;

“When this idea was first announced by President Trump in 2017, the U.S. Conference of Mayors condemned it. Since then, more than 100 communities have pledged to transition their cities to 100% clean energy, joining Salt Lake City which has pledged to move to 100% clean energy by 2030 and reduce our carbon output 80% by 2040. It is disappointing that our current Federal Administration has consistently decided to be on the wrong side of history on this issue. But that will not dissuade us. As I said when the United Nations convened in Salt Lake City to discuss sustainability issues in August: America’s cities are still in.”

Mayor Biskupski will join other local leaders to discuss US cities transition to 100% clean energy at the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation on Wednesday, November 6th at 2PM. A live web stream is available at: www.takeonedigital.com/uclawebcast
