The John W. Gallivan Utah Center (“The Gallivan Center”) will reopen its seasonal ice rink today at 4 p.m. People can lace up their skates at Downtown’s only ice rink, located on the city block bordered by Main Street, State Street, 200 South, and 300 South. 

Also this month, The Gallivan Center will host one of Salt Lake City’s largest parties of the year. On Nov. 25, the public is invited to usher in the Holidays at Gallivan’s annual “Lights On!” celebration, where thousands of glimmering lights surrounding the rink and adorning a 54-foot tree will be turned on at 5:30 p.m. 

Special guests, including Disney Princesses and Santa Claus himself will be at the family-friendly event. DJ Jon Smith will ring in the season all evening long with his party-ready, holiday setlist. This event is coordinated in partnership with Millie’s Princess Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping families affected by childhood cancer. The children from the foundation, along with their families, will skate for free at the event.

Weather permitting, the ice rink will remain open through the end of February 2023. The price of admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 13, seniors, and servicemembers. The rental of skates is included in the admission cost. Groups of 25 or more are eligible to receive a $1 discount per skater. The ice rink’s hours will be Monday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday through Saturday from noon to 12 a.m., and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m., with special holiday hours December 20 through January 1. Skaters can warm up and grab a bite to eat at Gallivan Center’s concession stand, where hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks will be available for purchase.
