Applications for the 2024 Love Your Block grant program open on March 1, 2024. Love Your Block brings residents and City leaders together to address challenges through community-led solutions, improving neighborhoods one block at a time.

Ideas funded aim to improve deteriorating spaces, address community concerns, and enhance neighborhood pride through resident-led projects.

“Love Your Block empowers Salt Lakers with the resources they need to bring their transformative ideas to life,” Mayor Mendenhall said. “The greatest projects in Salt Lake City are driven by kind, creative, and hardworking members of our community. I am excited to see all the Love Your Block initiatives move forward this year, strengthening our neighborhoods and instilling pride across the City.”

The program provides micro-grants, technical assistance, and one-on-one coaching to residents and businesses in eligible neighborhoods, including Glendale, Poplar Grove, Fairpark, Rosepark, Westpointe, Jordan Meadows, Guadalupe, and Ballpark.

The 2024 Love Your Block program consists of two grant categories Salt Lakers can apply for:

  • Mini-Grants fund up to $2,000 to support larger-scale initiatives, including the construction of community tool sheds, public art, vacant lot activation, playground repairs, and placemaking signage.
  • The Community Action Fund provides up to $500, allocating funds for shovel-ready and quick-hit projects, emphasizing activities like neighborhood clean-ups, alleyway projects, and exterior home repairs.

Mini-grant applications are open through March 31, 2024. Community Action Fund applications are accepted on a rolling basis through September 30 or when funds have been expended. Applications are accepted in English or Spanish via online, paper form, phone call, and in-person meetings. To learn more or apply, visit the Love Your Block webpage.

Love Your Block launched in 2021 as a Cities of Service grant, engaging westside residents to lead the change they want to see in their neighborhoods. In 2023, Love Your Block was adopted by the Salt Lake City Council as a permanent City program.
