Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City jointly announce several public events to honor the life and legacy of Ted Wilson, the 30th Mayor of Salt Lake City and father of current Salt Lake County Mayor, Jenny Wilson. Ted Wilson passed away on April 11, 2024, leaving a remarkable legacy in our community.

In tribute to Mayor Ted Wilson, the public is invited to an exhibit featuring personal and historical items significant to his career and life starting Tuesday, April 16. Items on exhibit will include:

·      Mayor Wilson’s mayoral portrait

·      Mayor Wilson’s portrait from the Hinckley Institute, currently on loan

·      Mayor Wilson’s desk used during his mayoral tenure

·      Other photographs and personal items

These items will be displayed on the third floor of the Salt Lake City and County Building, 451 S State St, where the Mayor and Council offices are located. Access is available through the building’s main entrance, and guests may proceed to the third floor.

Additionally, there will be media availability today, Monday, April 15, from 2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. During this time, members of the media are invited to speak with Ted Wilson’s family, including his widow, Holly Mullen, and Mayor Jenny Wilson.

A public memorial to honor Ted Wilson will be held on May 17th at 10 AM, with additional details to be announced later. Furthermore, on the same date, Salt Lake City will pay special tribute to Mayor Ted Wilson’s service. In recognition of his tenure as the 30th mayor, the clock tower bells at the City and County Building will chime 30 times.
