Airport Influence Zone Text and Zoning Map Amendment at 2333 W North Temple – Mayor Erin Mendenhall has initiated a petition to update an area of the Airport Influence Zone to support the implementation of the City’s adopted policies related to assisting people experiencing homelessness. The proposal includes a text amendment and zoning map amendment to remove a small area adjacent to 2400 West and south of North Temple from the Airport Influence Zone A, described under City Code 21A.34.040. This would allow for the Airport Inn to operate as an extended stay hotel.

Next Steps
- The Planning Division is in the process of obtaining public comment on this project to help identify concerns and issues from the public.
- Notice has been sent to the Poplar Grove and Jordan Meadows Community Councils.
- There is a 45-day Public Comment period during which time no decision can be made on the application and no Public Hearing can be held.
- Prior to the public hearing, the Planning Division will evaluate the proposal against the applicable standards, taking into consideration public comments as they relate to the standards, and develop a recommendation for the Planning Commission.
- A Planning Commission hearing regarding this request is tentatively scheduled in December 2021, where they will provide time for additional public comments and make a recommendation to City Council.
- The City Council will hold another public hearing for additional public comments and make the final decision on the matter.
