Steenblik Park: GO Bond Project
— Quick Links —
Project Description
Home to the large bronze-cast cat sculptures (“Dairy Cats” by Day Christensen), Steenblik Park is a 0.61-acre park in the Rose Park neighborhood. Using funds from the Parks, Trails, & Open Space General Obligation Bond (GO Bond), approved in November 2022, Steenblik will be “reimagined” to better reflect neighborhood needs and identities. This may include the replacement of failing assets like playground; the addition of unique elements capturing the surrounding neighborhood’s identity and history; increasing elements of placemaking; and adding multilingual identity and wayfinding signage.

Community Engagement Evaluation
Public Lands completed the first phase of community engagement for Steenblik Park. We will use the feedback collected to help inform decisions on how to proceed with the design phase, and ultimately implementation of the collective vision.
Click the link below to read what we learned from the first phase of the community engagement. The feedback from this phase will help develop the concept designs for the project and another round of community engagement will be done to ensure we captured the collective vision for the park.
