What do the new rates mean for me?
Rate changes will look different for every customer depending on their individual combination of the following factors:
- What type of customer: Residential or commercial?
- Diameter of pipe and meter: ¾-inch or 1-inch?
- Water usage: Low-, medium-, or high-user?
How do block water rates work?
Salt Lake City uses a block pricing system for residential customers:
- Using less water keeps you in lower-cost blocks.
- Using more water moves you into higher-cost blocks, which charge slightly more per gallon.
This structure rewards smart water use and helps protect our long-term water resources.
How can I save on my bill?
You can lower your water bill by:
- Installing water-efficient appliances (rebates may be available)
- Quickly fixing leaks inside and outside your home
- Reducing outdoor watering, especially during peak summer months
