We’ve received many questions about the process that follows an Officer Involved Critical Incident. There are three types of processes that may be initiated as a result of such an incident: criminal, civil and/or employment discipline. 

The following chart is intended to help clarify these complex proceedings for the public. This is the process as it currently stands.

The newly-formed Salt Lake City Commission on Racial Equity in Policing will be evaluating these processes as part of their work.
