Hi Salt Lakers,
Salt Lake City is stepping into one of our most vibrant seasons. Living Traditions Festival once again brought our community together to celebrate the cultures and traditions that make our city so special. Now, we look ahead to June for Pride, the Arts Festival, and the debut season of the professional softball team, the Talons. Summer is full of opportunities to gather, celebrate, and enjoy everything that makes Salt Lake City shine.
Safer Biking and New Public Art
May is National Bike Month, and Salt Lake City celebrated with even more places to ride. First, we celebrated the unveiling of the Hidden Waters installation at Folsom Trail. Then, we unveiled the brand-new 400 South Viaduct trail, a multi-use trail protected by a tall concrete barrier that helps pedestrians and bikers cross the tracks. Along with that came Strut, the new public art piece installed across the bridge that represents the longest continuous public art in the state.
Building More Housing for Families
Salt Lake City has officially achieved two major affordable housing milestones—we’ve helped fund more than 1,000 family-sized affordable apartments, as well as more than 1,000 deeply affordable units. Together, we’re making Salt Lake City a place where families, children, teachers, and other essential workers can grow roots. This month, the CRA approved $6.4 million to expand affordable homeownership for dozens of Salt Lake City families via townhomes and single-family homes.
Budget Season Continues
Earlier this month, I presented the City Council with my proposed FY27 Budget. There is still an opportunity for your voice to be heard at 7 p.m. on June 2nd at the City Council public hearing.
