Salt Lake City Celebrates 56th Anniversary of Fair Housing Act as Fair Housing Month

Salt Lake City Celebrates 56th Anniversary of Fair Housing Act

This April Salt Lake City again reaffirmed its commitment to the Fair Housing Act, marking the 56th anniversary with community outreach and the SLC formal 2024 Fair Housing Proclamation, which you can read here.

In a recorded video, Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall commemorated Fair Housing Month by highlighting current initiatives by the City to help renters experiencing discrimination. “We know our city isn’t free from the realities of housing discrimination, and we know that renters are most impacted,” Mayor Mendenhall said, “which is why the City is doing more to increase our protections for residents who are renters. The City just launched a new Consumer Protection Complaint Portal this year, which pays extra attention to Salt Laker’s housing-related issues and concerns.” She encouraged any Salt Lake City residents who are experiencing housing-related discrimination to submit a complaint to the Consumer Protection Complaint Portal here. You can view Mayor Mendenhall’s post here.

Additional details on Fair Housing Month and resources for those experiencing discrimination can be found at our Fair Housing Month webpage here.
