On December 18th, Salt Lake City Council Member Chris Wharton met with residents who live near SLC Public Utilities’ 4th Avenue Well to listen and to discuss updates to the project. Protecting our maintenance team’s safety and the need to meet new state codes are driving the project. New regulations require our Department to bring well operations above ground, and to build a pump house at the site. Public Utilities and Planning Division representatives been meeting regularly with residents in the area at 4th Avenue and Canyon Road. Our efforts continue to build a pump house that helps us provide plentiful drinking water and adequate pressure for firefighting to more than 12,000 people, as well as to support the neighborhood’s cultural and historic aesthetics.
