Exciting news: We recently installed our first solar street light in Salt Lake City. It’s located on a long cul-de-sac that has no nearby power access. Trying to bring wiring and wooden poles to this site would have cost nearly $15,000. But our Street Lighting Division purchased the solar model for just $5,500. Residents in the area have been requesting lighting on their street for some time, and we found a practical way! The light is working great, and we expect it to power through the long nights of fall and winter, too. We will be looking for other possible sites for solar lighting, keeping in mind cost and energy savings for our ratepayers.
